Sabbatical leave of up to one year may be granted to contractual personnel, under provisions of state law, for the purpose of study or travel which will benefit the institution, students, and employee.
|Purpose and Authority|
Employees on long-term sabbatical leave are ineligible to work on an extra-service contract basis (See Board Policy Manual, section DEC). Faculty on a short-term sabbatical “may teach one summer session at the extra service rate” as provided in the Board Policy Manual, section DJ. An administrator’s salary shall remain in effect while on a short-term sabbatical.”
Applications for short-term sabbaticals are submitted to the office of the Vice Chancellor for Educational Affairs by November 14. Evaluation of proposals are made by the same committees as long-term sabbaticals. Recommendations for approval of short-term sabbaticals are made to the Board at its February meeting.
