Conference Day 2014 and Professional Development

Conference Day 2014 and Professional Development

As we head into February, Conference Day 2014 for professional support staff and faculty/administrators is quickly approaching. Are you registered?

Conference Day is an opportunity for all locations of the Dallas County Community College District to come together and reconnect with colleagues, celebrate success and have a bit of fun. This year, the conference will be Feb. 6 and our theme will be "Transforming Lives & Communities."

Richland College will host PSS while Cedar Valley will accommodate faculty and administrators. The last day to register for the event is Jan. 24.

Professional Development

Instead of participating in a day of service following Conference Day as in previous years, this year all DCCCD locations have elected to dedicate Feb. 7 to professional development. The college will be closed to students, but employees are encouraged to take advantage of sessions around campus. Departments and divisions may also hold individual activities and retreats, if they wish, or employees can attend the Texas Community College Teachers Association convention in San Antonio. Employees not participating in professional development activities or working on campus will need to clear this with their supervisor and complete an appropriate leave form.

Employee Success Center

Remember, you don't have to wait for Conference Day for professional development opportunities! Our newly updated Employee Success Center in Building T offers classes year round to all employees. This month, we've seen wellness Lunch & Learn sessions, a workplace professionalism course and even massage therapy. Still to come are employee exercise classes and New Employee Orientation.

For more information about the ESC and professional development, contact Joy Johnson at Ext. 4161, stop by Bldg. T, Room T209 or visit their website.
