Eleanor and Lynwood Kreneck Exhibit Quilts, Screenprints in the Forum Gallery

Eleanor and Lynwood Kreneck Exhibit Quilts, Screenprints in the Forum Gallery

This month, Eleanor and Lynwood Kreneck share the space in the Forum Gallery from Jan. 8-Feb. 5 to exhibit their individual artworks of narrative quilts and screenprints, respectively. Their inspiration for the project stemmed from Guanlan, China, where they taught screenprinting in 2010.

Eleanor’s narrative quilts combine figurative imagery from China and West Texas, rather than the geometric patterning commonly associated with the quilt form. A professional artist member of the Studio Art Quilts Associates, she exhibits nationally, with recent exhibitions in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Indiana, Illinois and California.

Lynwood's screenprints and drawings deploy humorous figurative visual metaphors to engage content of gravity. He is professor emeritus of art at Texas Tech University. Noted for his instrumental role in the development of the materials and techniques for water-based screenprinting, Lynwood has provided leadership for the development of complex color printmaking through his work curating the Colorprint USA exhibition series at Texas Tech University for the past 40 years. His work is in more than 40 museums and numerous private collections. In 2006, the Southern Graphics Council International recognized him with the Teaching Excellence in Printmaking Award.

A reception will be held for the artists in the Forum Gallery Jan. 30, 6-8 p.m. For more information about the exhibitions, contact David Newman, gallery director, at 972-860-4101 or at
