Open Book Project: Past, Present and Future Events

Open Book Project: Past, Present and Future Events

The Open Book Project has kicked off its first events of the spring semester, and there's plenty more to come!

In January, we were treated to a special screening of the movie Crash and a college visit from Wes Moore, author of this year's book selection, The Other Wes Moore for a speech and book signing.

The Institute for Political Studies partnered up once again with the Open Book Project for a joint event on Feb. 3 entitled "Race and Injustice" with Bryan Stevenson in tribute to Black History Month. Wendall Hall from the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization also visited the college on Feb. 12 for an informational discussion about the initiative.

The Open Book Project is currently holding a donation drive for Rainbow Days, a support system for children who face daily hardships. The drive runs from Feb. 17-March 4, and donations will be collected in the Office of Student Life.

Still to come this month is another joint IPS event entitled "Practicing Criminal Law in Texas" with Attorney Reed Prospere on Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. in Bldg. K, Room K234, and "Sweet Talk About Wes Moore" with Haven Abedin on Feb. 25 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Bldg. X, Room X2006.
