Brian Molanphy, Jungeun Lee Exhibitions Come to Brookhaven College

DALLAS—The Brookhaven College Art Department is pleased to present exhibitions by Brian Molanphy in the Forum Gallery and Jungeun Lee in the Studio Gallery of the Brookhaven College School of the Arts.
Brian Molanphy: Encapsulations presents new ceramic work by Brian Molanphy, assistant professor at Southern Methodist University, in the Forum Gallery. Molanphy encountered wood-fired ceramics and wood-oven baked bread on a bicycle tour of Europe. Upon completion of the Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics, Molanphy received a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the National Manufactory of Sèvres, France. He returned to France as a Fellow of the Camargo Foundation in Cassis and as a Fellow of the Brown Foundation in Ménerbes, which led to several exhibitions in France. He also engaged in research into Provençal marbled ceramics. He is an elected member of the International Academy of Ceramics, which includes fewer than 80 American ceramic artists. Molanphy began teaching ceramics at Southern Methodist University in 2011. In 2012 he was awarded a Meadows travel grant and a University Research Council grant for continued research on marbled clay. Recent exhibitions include a two-person exhibition with painter Danielle Prijikorski at Galerie Vingt-deux, Provence; CraftTexas 2012, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft; carrés encadrés, Fondation Camargo Cassis; Beyond the Brickyard, Archie Bray Foundation; round hole square peg at Coburn Gallery, Colorado Springs; and Silly Fuss, Gallery 371, Alberta College of Art + Design.
Dallas photographer Jungeun Lee exhibits photographs from Silenced Suffering: The Comfort Women Project in the Studio Gallery. Born and raised in Korea, Jungeun Lee studied architecture at Hoseo University, and received the M.F.A. in photography from Texas Woman's University. The recipient of the 2010 PhotoNOLA Review Prize, her work has been exhibited at 500X in Dallas and at the Holocaust Center and Archives in New York.
A reception for both artists will be held Jan. 25, 6-8 p.m. in their respective galleries. The exhibitions will be on display until Feb. 6.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Brookhaven College is located at 3939 Valley View Lane, between Midway Road and Marsh Lane in Farmers Branch. The Forum Gallery is located in Bldg. F, Room F101, and the Studio Gallery is located in Bldg. D, Room D127.
