Student Success — The Brookhaven College Bears Baseball team won fourth place in the National Junior College Athletic Association World Series Tournament.  The team ended its best season ever with a loss in the first round, wins in the second and third, and a loss in the fourth round, which eliminated the Bears from the tournament finals.

Institutional Effectiveness — At its April meeting, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) Commission on Accreditation voted to grant membership to Brookhaven College.  For months, Brookhaven College’s Lisa Ehrich (Art Department chairperson/professor) and David Newman (visual arts coordinator/gallery director) and staff in the School of the Arts and Business Studies Division have worked to meet the rigorous standards for accreditation by NASAD, the national accrediting agency for art and design, and art and design-related disciplines.  The membership applies to the Associate in Arts with a focus in Fine Arts and the Visual Communications Associate in Applied Sciences degree programs.  Currently, there is only one other community college in Texas that holds this accreditation, and only 12 universities.
