Employee Success - Carrie Schweitzer, assistant to the president of Brookhaven College, has led the college’s Green Team as well as the initiative for the school to be designated as a Tree Campus USA college. This summer, she added to her sustainability résumé by earning a professional certificate in Campus Sustainability Leadership for her participation in a five-day program at the University of Vermont (UVM), June 23-27. Facilitated by Dr. Debra Rowe, president of the U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development and professor of sustainable energies and behavioral sciences at Oakland Community College, the program integrated classroom lectures on student success and engagement with tours of UVM’s top-rated “green” buildings and programs.
Margaret Riley, Brookhaven College instructional lab coordinator and developmental reading adjunct faculty member, can show unusual proof of her family’s dedication to higher education. Riley and her family have been recognized and approved by Guinness World Records as “the largest family to attend the same university.” Grambling State University has validated 86 enrollments and 52 graduates of the Wayne family, dating from the 1940s to the present day.
