Sharon’s Corner

The Virginia Tech tragedy that occurred last week was close to home for those of us who make our living at institutions of higher education. We chose this vocation, or it chose us, because we want to see others grow, develop and become contributing members of our society. Our hearts and thoughts go with the victims and families of those who lost their lives or who were wounded in last week’s incident. Our thoughts and wishes for continued strength to carry out the work of higher learning go to the “Hokies” - the faculty and staff of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.   Read More »

Trivia Teams Coming Together To Support Students

Science Labs Open for Early College High School "CSI"

The students in the Early College High School were getting what they thought was just a science lecture, on April 13, when their lesson was interrupted by an alarm. Officer Guadalupe Frias came into their class to ask them to put their “young minds” to use on a fictional murder investigation at the college. Read More »

Spring Concerts Top Handbell Festivals

Thousands of bells will ring out at the annual Brookhaven College spring handbell festival April 28. The festival brings together hundreds of handbell ringers from Texas and Oklahoma for a full day of clinics and rehearsal. The first festival was April 21, but you have a chance to see the ringers at the close of the April 28 festival, at 4 p.m. in the Gymnasium, Building T.  Read More »
