Helping students to afford the books that they need to succeed isn’t a trivial goal, but the way some are going about it does involve some trivia. Nita Drescher, Bob Smith and Terri Edrich have been coordinating a Trivia Team contest to support the student book fund.
Team captains have been selected and most of the team members are on deck as well. Each person participating is being asked to contribute $3 toward the book fund. With eight team members and more than 15 teams, that should mean more than $350 for the fund. The teams will gather May 9 from noon to 2 p.m. for the contest. A location hasn’t yet been specified, but information is expected soon. Spectators are welcome to donate to the fund as well.
The competition appears to be getting fierce, with most of the teams already filled. The Professional Support Staff Association is providing drinks for the event and participants are asked to bring food for a potluck. Ben Barnes will be emceeing the contest. Cathie Shaw, Jan Sickles and Terri Edrich will judge the competition.
The winning table will get a first place trophy, though Terri says they only get to keep it until the next competition. Anyone wishing to participate should e-mail Nita Drescher.
