Where else would you have had an opportunity to spend time with colleagues, learn a new skill and be a little silly doing it? Camp Brookhaven! The Professional Development Office, along with other volunteers, created this fun and functional camp focusing on technology.
There was a lot to learn, but the tone was pretty light, with late campers having to apologize and all campers finding a partner for outings. Those who registered could choose from 10 different topics and the lessons learned during Camp Brookhaven offered solid knowledge on a variety of topics. Camp Brookhaven drew on the power of the expertise around the college to share fun ideas, tools and best practices.
Campers enjoyed the following sessions at “Camp Brookhaven: Your Technology Adventure!”
“Camp Brookhaven was a lot of fun! It was an ideal time, without the pressure of class schedules to go and learn something on your to-do list,” said Anahita Sidhwa, astronomy professor who attended more of the camp courses than anyone else. “All the topics were useful and the funny caps and stickers made for a light-hearted summer adventure. It was also a good opportunity to meet lots of people, both old and new.”
Ben Barnes, Marcelo Bohrt, Sharon Burton, Charles Cadenhead, Blanca Klingensmith, Linda Lee, Angelo Lewis, Doris Rousey, Danieli Torres-Hollerbach and Ngoc Truong formed the Camp Brookhaven Team and put the project together.
