The Brookhaven College Dancers’ Theatre will entertain audiences with three free performances July 27-29 at 8:30 p.m. in the International Courtyard. Student performances cover a wide range of styles from modern to lyrical, from theatrical to hip-hop.
In addition to dancers taking courses at the college, there will be special guest performances. Dancers’ Theatre welcomes performances from Dallas Power House, Baba Yaga and Lisbon Elementary School “Character Counts” Dance Company.
Dancers’ Theatre is the performance company extension of the Brookhaven College School of the Arts Dance Department. They also perform regularly for the Dallas Morning News Dance Festival and the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival. The Dance Department at Brookhaven College offers classical ballet, burlesque, salsa, modern, tap, jazz and hip-hop courses for college credit or personal enrichment. The Brookhaven College School of the Arts dance professors include professional dancers and choreographers like Anna Marie Ewert-Pittman, founder of Ewert & Company dance company; Shannon Tate, co-founder of the Ground Level Dance Company; and Michelle Sherrill, professional dancer with Dallas Ballet, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Dancers Unlimited.
