Everyone gathered in the gym Oct. 5 to get their first glimpse of the college’s draft for a vision statement. The AI Summit II focused once again on the best aspects of the college and the challenges that will be faced.
For the past year, the Visioning Committee has been compiling and consolidating the information gathered at the first AI Summit in 2006. More than 40 pages of notes were pulled from the notes and ideas gathered from the tables at the first AI Summit. In the end, the information was distilled down to just one sentence.
“Brookhaven College will enhance the lives of our students, employees, and community by building a forward-thinking, learning/teaching college.”
Several ideas for re-writes and modifications were shared and all the new data will be compiled to go back to the Visioning Committee for changes to the statement. The draft had already been reviewed by students and community members for input as well.
In the coming weeks, the Visioning Committee will be reviewing the input and working on a final draft of the statement. Look for more information to come.
