A Christmas Poem

I want to thank my faculty and staff for all their passion and hard work for students. I am blessed and honored to be their dean. So, in the spirit of the season…

’Twas the week after finals…

Christmas Poem

’Twas the week after finals and all o’er the land
Not a projector was projecting, not even in my band

My division is quiet, ‘cept for east
Our faculty are resting, they deserve this at least

This year has been full, full to the max
It’s about time, we can finally relax

The semester began with the opening of Head Start
With many saying, “Gee, that was smart”

Now to the nurses, they have been busy too
They have started their program down at Mountain View

EMS are no slackers, they have been at the school
Landing helicopters, cutting cars, RL Turner thinks they’re cool

Now for Rad Sci, they’ve been at GISD
Spreading knowledge of radiation as far their eyes could see

Community is important; to us it is a big part
We strive to do our best, with all of our heart

Our division has been awarded, many things too
The awards were so numerous; I’ll just name a few

Christmas Poem

The nurses are doing well, 100 percent is their pass rate
Radiology is doing the same; I think they’re all great

EMS is keeping up, they have 100 percent too
Child development is graduating more, yippe-de-doo!

Our accreditations are coming along, EMS is so close
They should hear the verdict in May, and then we can boast

Jane has won awards and Christi too
I can’t believe I have such a great crew

We keep trudging along, doing our best
Our division is due a short winter’s rest

In review of 2007, I say this aloud
My division is so great, they make me very proud!

For poetic license, some liberties were taken with Associated Press style, but to clarify a few points we are offering the following information.

GISD is the Garland Independent School District and Rad Sci references the Radiologic Sciences Program. Mountain View is Mountain View College of course and RL Turner is R.L. Turner High School. EMS stands for the Emergency Medical Services Program.

Jane Rowe is a child development professor and Christi Carter is a radiologic technology professor.
