In the Best Holiday Spirit

Angel Tree

The women and children at the Genesis Women’s Shelter will be celebrating a happier holiday due to the generosity of the students and employees at Brookhaven College. There were bicycles and digital cameras alongside games and clothing in the huge pile of gifts under the tree in the Student Services Center, Building S, lobby.

There were 150 angels to choose from and the students and employees at the college were quick to step up to the challenge. When a final angel was found at the last minute that had been misplaced, four people quickly volunteered to bring items.

The Brookhaven Student Government Association coordinated the annual Angel Tree Project for the third year in a row. Yasaman Contractor, BSGA club sponsor, said all the staff in the Student Programs And Resources Office had bags and boxes filled with toys, clothes and presents overflowing their offices.

The mission of the Genesis Women’s Shelter is to provide quality safety and shelter to battered women and their children through crisis intervention and short-term crisis therapeutics and to reduce the occurrence of violence against women and children in the greater Dallas area.
