Take Advantage Of Safety Awareness Day

Dunk-A-Cop

Dunk a cop, have a hot dog and support the student book fund all at the same time. On Sept. 25, Safety Awareness Day at Brookhaven College is bringing together a variety of services and information from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to ensure that students have tools for crime prevention.

Along with the Brookhaven Student Government Association, the college police are arranging a fund-raiser for the student book fund that will include a dunking booth and a cook-out. The college police will have a DWI golf cart obstacle course for students to navigate in an effort to enhance drug and alcohol awareness within the college community.

The Dallas County Acute Theft Task Force will be at the college for the event and will offer H.E.A.T. registration and Vehicle Identification number engraving. The H.E.A.T., Help End Auto Theft program, is a statewide vehicle registration program administered by the Texas Department of Public Safety that helps law enforcement officials identify stolen vehicles. Information also will be available to help students learn about practices for crime prevention.

The event is open and free to the public. Proceeds from the cook-out and the dunk-a-cop will benefit the student book fund.
