
Modern, hip hop, lyrical and jazz performances will be the key features of the Dancers’ Theatre Fall Show, Nov. 21-23. The performances will feature the Brookhaven College Performance Ensemble and special guests from Skyline High School.
Students taking a variety of courses come together once each semester for these shows. The professional dancers and choreographers who teach as faculty members in the Brookhaven College School of the Arts choreograph performances. Professors Micki Saba, Shannon Tate, Anna Marie Ewert-Pittman and Michelle Sherrill have created choreography for this performance, along with guest choreographers Keith Clark and Rebekah Caffey.
Saba has performed and choreographed with Dancers’ Unlimited Repertory Company and Ewert & Company and teaches at the University of Texas at Dallas as well as Brookhaven College. Tate is the co-founder of the Ground Level Dance Company. Ewert-Pittman is the founder of Ewert & Company dance company. Sherrill earned her Master of Fine Arts in choreographic theory from Southern Methodist University and danced professionally with three companies. The Performance Ensemble is the performance company extension of the Brookhaven College School of the Arts Dance Department, and performs at the college three times a year. They also have performed at The Dallas Morning News Dance Festival and the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival. The Dance Department at Brookhaven College offers classical ballet, modern, tap, jazz and hip hop courses for college credit or personal enrichment for all levels and ages of dancers.
Performances are at the Brookhaven College Performance Hall Nov. 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the School of the Arts Box Office for $8 for general admission, $6 for senior adults and students.
