New Facilities Workorder System In Development Districtwide

New Facilities Workorder System In Development Districtwide

New technology to generate workorders for facilities services is being created right now. The actual program, called Facility Max, was designed by Maximus and recently purchased by the district for use throughout all the colleges. Currently the facilities directors are inputting information to customize the program for each individual college location.

Vincent Price, assistant director of facilities services, said the new system will reduce paperwork from facilities employees, and for the first time allow customers to see the status of their workorder.

Under the new software system, the person who sends a workorder to facilities will receive an e-mail confirming that their order was received. In addition, they will be able to go into the system and see if a job has been started, parts are being ordered or work is almost completed.

The current software system that is used can only be accessed by facilities personnel and Crista Sikes, administrative assistant, enters most of the data into the system to track work. Under the new system, everyone in facilities will be able to input their own work allowing customers easier access to the status for the work and better tracking of information for facilities staff as well.

Training for new users for the Facility Max system is scheduled right now to begin in February. Price said he would like to start gathering the information for the first round of potential users in the coming weeks so that those people can be set up in the new system, one or two people from each department who want to be trained in the new system. Users will be able to open the new program from their computer desktop and open a new or view a current workorder file.
