Will there or won’t there be a wedding? Theatre Brookhaven presents “Dearly Beloved,” a Southern comedy in the classic tradition, Dec. 4-14. As one dysfunctional Texas family gathers for a wedding, their hometown gathers to see what these sisters will do to set off the rumor mill now.
“Dearly Beloved” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten is the story of the Futrelle Sisters, Frankie, Honey Raye and Twink, sisters in the throes of a series of life-changing events. Frankie’s daughter Tina Jo is getting married–while Twink is desperate to get her own boyfriend to the altar and Honey Raye makes the trip whenever she can. Audiences can laugh their way through this fast-paced comedy about love, marriage, sisterhood, gospel music and 300 pounds of good, ol’ Texas barbeque.
The production is directed by Carla Parker. Shows are Dec. 4-6 and 11-13 at 8 p.m., and Dec. 8 and 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the School of the Arts Arena Theatre in Building C. General admission is $8; student and senior adults are $6. Tickets are available at the School of the Arts Box Office at 972-860-4118.
