David Newman
Brookhaven College Art Department students Evan Davis and Alex Ruiz, and David Newman, gallery director and adjunct professor, contributed editions of original prints to Message in a Bottle 2009, a print exchange program between Texas and South Africa schools.
Message in a Bottle 2009 was coordinated by Eva Kutscheid at Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Dallas and included students and faculty from Booker, the University of Texas at Arlington, Angelo State University, Brookhaven College, Vaal University of Technology South Africa and Silwane Senior Primary School in South Africa. The artists created editions of prints to exhibit at the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas May 7 through 21.
Proceeds from the sale of the prints benefited the Drepung Loseling Monastery in Atlanta and the Silwane Senior Primary School Art Project in Verulam, South Africa.
