Board Amends Distance Learning Policy

Board Amends Distance Learning Policy

The Board of Trustees has approved an amendment to Board Policy FBB relating to tuition. The policy does not affect cost, but now states that the term “fee” will no longer be used. Instead, distance learning costs will be referred to as “tuition,” as with other district programs.

According to the policy report, some third-party sponsors will pay only these tuition rates, or a negotiated cost depending on contracted services with distance learning partners.

The policy now states:

“A distance learning tuition of $55 per credit hour, a minimum of $165 per three-hour course shall be charged only to out-of-state students who receive all services remotely through the College District’s ‘Virtual College.’ This tuition may be adjusted if an entity establishes a distance learning partnership with the District and provides contracted services to the District in lieu of payment of all or a portion of the distance learning tuition.”
