On May 14, Narvia McDaniel and Dawn Wagle weren’t just Brookhaven employees anymore—they were Brookhaven College graduates.
During the Spring 2009 Brookhaven College Commencement Ceremony, McDaniel, department assistant for the Automotive Techonology Division, received her Associate in Applied Sciences-Management. Wagle, assistant accountant, received her Associate in Science.

The ceremony, held at Loos Field House in Addison, featured the Brookhaven College Faculty and Student Orchestra performing the musical prelude, national anthem and commencement suite.
Vanessa Tapia, president of the Brookhaven College Student Government Association, delivered the invocation, and Oscar Lopez, vice president of student services and enrollment management, gave the introductions and closing remarks.
The welcome address was delivered by Richard D. McCrary, interim president, and greetings were given by trustee Charletta Compton. Rodger Bennett, interim vice president of instruction, conferred the degrees with assistance from Compton, Lisa Ehrich, art professor; and Patti Burks, computer information systems professor; president and vice president of the Faculty Association respectively. John Neal, journalism professor and Piper nominee, gave the commencement address along with Joy Dickinson Tipping, alumna.
