Country legend takes Brookhaven stage

Larry Gatlin

Larry Gatlin will perform at 8 p.m.
Aug. 29 in the Performance Hall.

Singer, actor and performer Larry Gatlin will take the stage as the Brookhaven College School of the Arts' fall spotlight performance.

Gatlin made a name for himself as a country artist, topping the country charts and earning the Grammy Award for Best Country Song with "Broken Lady" in 1976. Gatlin went on to be voted the Top Male Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music in 1979. He later joined up with his brothers to form the country-infused Gatlin Brothers Band, which released hits like "She Used to be Somebody's Baby," "Talkin' to the Moon" and "Denver."

Since his band's "Adios Tour" in 1992, Gatlin has taken his career to new heights. In 1993, he tried out acting, replacing Keith Carradine on the Broadway cast of "Will Rogers Follies." He added author to his resume in 1998, when he released his autobiography All the Gold in California.

Don't miss the chance to see a country legend on stage. Watch Gatlin live at 8 p.m. Aug. 29 in the Performance Hall at Brookhaven College.
