Presidential Award Makes Campus Home

Presidential Award Makes Campus Home

Interim President Richard McCrary received the certificate for the 2008 Honor Roll Presidential Award earlier this month.

Although Brookhaven College won the Honor Roll Presidential Award earlier this year, it wasn't until this month that Richard McCrary, interim president, could actually hold it in his hand.

On July 1, McCrary received the certificate for the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll President Award.

The Honor Roll's Presidential Award, given each year to only a handful of institutions, is the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.

The 2008 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll includes 635 institutions of higher learning, with six earning top honors; Brookhaven College was the only community college among those top six.
