Campus to Help Fight Breast Cancer

The pink ribbon is worn universally to symbolize the fight against breast cancer.

Brookhaven College will join in the fight against breast cancer Nov. 6-8 when it serves as the campsite for participants of the 2009 Dallas/Fort Worth Breast Cancer 3-Day.

The college will provide the location for the more than 3,500 participants who take part in the walk and need a campsite to come together for their food, shelter, entertainment and washing facilities.

Employees of the college can serve as volunteers for the event by cheering on walkers, setting up tents and carrying gear. Volunteers also are needed for the event’s closing ceremonies at Fair Park.

To volunteer, contact Dawn Bishop, assistant to the vice president of Business Services, at 972-860-4634.

The Breast Cancer 3-Day does not release information directly relating to the host site of the event because of security concerns and parking and space limitations. The camp is not designed to accommodate visitors who are not officially registered as volunteers or participants. They have asked that we also please keep this information confidential and adhere to the ‘no visitors in camp’ rule.

For more information about the Breast Cancer 3-Day, visit www.The3Day.org or call 1-800-996-3DAY.
