Chancellor Declares Cyber Security Month
Chancellor Wright Lassiter Jr. has made the DCCCD part of a national campaign by declaring October Cyber
Security Awareness Month.
The campaign encourages everyone to protect information on the Web and on their computers.
Ed Des Plas, executive vice chancellor for business affairs, said in an e-mail, “Even when we are not directly
connected, our economy and much of the everyday infrastructure we rely on uses the Web.”

6 Tips for Creating a Strong Password
- Think of a unique and unusual sentence that you can remember and that contains the same number of words as the desired
password length.
- Substitute numbers for any applicable words.
- Use the first letter of each remaining word in the sentence to create a new lowercase “word.”
- Modify this by substituting upper and lowercase letters.
- Substitute some special characters that “look like” or remind you of letters to make this password even stronger.
- Finally, check to make sure the resulting password meets all of the criteria from the password dos and don’ts list at
