Students from the spring 2011 nursing program class were
interviewed as part of the NLN's site visit.
The Brookhaven College Nursing Program has officially been accredited for another eight years.
The program received its final site visitor’s report from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission just last month. The NLN reports: “Continuing accreditation as the program is in compliance with All Accreditation Standards. Next visit is in eight years."
The NLN’s report noted program strengths such as “consistently high NCLEX-RN pass rates and graduate rates,” “the exceptional skill laboratory and simulation laboratory," and "college administrative support and commitment resulting in exemplary new facility for nursing program."
NLN representatives met with students while visiting.
"Students are enthusiastic and complimentary regarding their program," the report reads. "The students' high NCLEX scores reflect a commitment to the program and their studies."
And regarding the program’s curriculum, the NLN reported: "The associate degree curriculum is comprehensive, detailed and has well-developed and clearly articulated program outcomes and student learning outcomes that are integrated in all nursing courses."
Interim president Dr. Richard D. McCrary was proud of the program's performance.
"I am so very pleased at how well this went," Richard said. "The entire staff of those in the Nursing program are to be congratulated for their continuing and outstanding work."
