There’s art around the college with each of the galleries on campus displaying new exhibitions this month.
With a “never grow up” philosophy and featuring special guest Steven Craig, “Head in the Clouds” showcases the work of talented graphic designers and problem solvers in a way that will open eyes and broaden horizons. This exhibition features illustration and the promotions work done in collaboration with Craig and design partner and Ripcord owner, Kim Griffith. The exhibition is open Feb. 28-April 1. The Atrium Gallery is located in Building B and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Works by the late Patricia Forrest are in the Studio Gallery through April 7. Forrest, who passed away in 2010, was a faculty member of the Brookhaven College Art Department until 2001, teaching design, drawing and sculpture. This exhibition, selected from works in the artist’s estate, is representative of her work in collage and assemblage, and is a celebration of her life and work.
Gisela-Heidi Strunck exhibits exquisitely crafted wood sculpture in the Forum Gallery through April 7. Although she lost most of her sight in 2003, Strunck has continued working in sculpture. Her work increasingly emphasizes tactile contrasts, as well as the continuing use of geometric forms and structures which have informed her work.
Receptions for the Studio and Forum gallery exhibitions are March 10, 6-8 p.m.
