Employee Wins QEP Slogan Contest

Employee Wins QEP Slogan Contest

Martha Leeper, administrative assistant in the Health and Human Services Division, is the mastermind behind the QEP’s new slogan.

“Reading: The App for Life” caught the attention of voters March 2 during the Day of Service QEP college planning session. The slogan contest, held Feb. 1-17, called for entries from both students and employees and promised the winner a $200 gift card at the Follett Bookstore in the Student Services Center.

Martha, an upbeat grandmother of three boys, was surprised that her idea was chosen, but thrilled. She’d purposefully crafted a catchphrase that would be relevant to students.

“I asked myself, ‘In this generation, what are they always doing?’” Martha said. “They’re always looking for the latest app!”

With her gift card, Martha wants to buy childrens’ books for her grandkids and a digital camera, she said.

The QEP committee whittled the playing field from a whopping 213 entries down to just 15 prior to the final vote, according to Haven Abedin, English professor and QEP committee co-chair.

Congratulations, Martha, and thank you for your creativity!
