From the party to the ceremony, graduates discovered many ways to celebrate their accomplishments in their final weeks as Brookhaven Bears.
Hundreds turned out for barbeque, caricatures and balloon sculptures at this year’s Graduation Party April 26. There was bull-riding in the courtyard to celebrate graduation, but when the party was over, hundreds of students got down to the serious business of finishing their classes.
While not all those at the campus party were actually graduating this year, there were more than 300 students who crossed the stage in Brookhaven College’s Commencement ceremonies May 10 at Loos Field House. This spring, more than 580 students completed their associate degrees, including 26 from the Early College High School. Another 118 completed certificate programs and 33 earned Skills Achievement Awards.
Daniel Marold, Student Government Association president and American Student Association of Community Colleges president, was the student speaker. Adrien Cuellar-McGuire, humanities professor and Minnie Stevens Piper Award nominee, gave the commencement address and shared her memories as a DCCCD student.
Congratulations to all our graduates and to the faculty and staff who helped them reach their goals!
