Brookhaven College students and the public were given a chance to flex their muscles (and résumés!) to potential employers April 19 at the Spring Career Fair.
Approximately 50 companies came to recruit students for full- and part-time positions – the most recruiting employers at the fair in two years, according to Annette Wilson, director of the Career Development Center.
“We actually had to turn away employers who applied late to the fair. We just didn’t have enough room,” Annette said.
The event was a huge success with approximately 300-400 job seekers in attendance. Plans for the Fall Career Fair on Sept. 27 are already in the works, and businesses have already submitted their paperwork to come back. Student Theresa “Teri” Short attended the fair and, in addition to getting job leads, was the recipient of a $300 scholarship.
Tons of Brookhaven College students and staff helped make the Career Fair possible this semester. Countless hours and works of effort were put into the event and deserve some recognition!
“This is the best team of employees at Brookhaven College I have ever worked with. Without them we would not have been able to do it,” Annette said.
Among the largest corporations present at the fair were Chick-Fil-A, Chipotle, Geico, American Girl and AutoZone. The Career Development Center also welcomed several local organizations such as Denton Fire Department, Gaylord Texan, Dallas Afterschool Network, and Dallas and Garland police departments.
