"Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman" by Jon Krakaur
This book is a full account of the story of Pat Tillman. He was a well-known professional football player who gave up his career in football after 9-11 to join the Army. It tells the story of his journey from childhood to his final end in a "friendly" firefight in Afghanistan. Krakaur gives a really good history of the involvement of outside countries (Soviet Union and United States) in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat Tillman was much more than a football player. He was a philosopher, helper, friend, lover and warrior.
I was so involved in this story it was hard to put it down! It will cause you to think about the United States' involvement
in wars in other countries and how far removed we really are from living in a peaceful world.
