Donations Fill Boxes, Book Bags

Donations Fill Boxes, Book Bags

Just in time for the first day of school, 19 kids across Dallas and Denton counties received the supplies needed for a successful school year.

Under the flagship of the Service-Learning Department, the Brookhaven College community collected and donated seven supply-filled book bags and a box full of crayons, markers, pencils and notebooks – all at a total estimated value of $480. Cash donations came in at an additional $694.

Rainbow Days, a nonprofit community partner, distributed the supplies during its Back-to-School Celebration Aug. 15, an annual party that benefits local children living in homeless, domestic violence or transitional living shelters.

A special thank you to Andrew Deibert, service-learning and civic engagement coordinator, for organizing the supply drive and to the following departments and organizations for preparing donations.
