Hamburgers, hot dogs and hot links are a lifesaver not only to empty stomachs but also to employees in need of financial assistance.
Grilling for Greenbacks, the annual fundraiser for the Employee Emergency Fund, is Aug. 23 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Bldg. T breezeway.
A hot-off-the-grill lunch is only $5 and includes chips, a drink and a cookie. Grilled chicken sandwiches or veggie burgers are available for $6, but you must pre-order. With proceeds benefitting the EEF, additional donations are encouraged.
If registration has you glued to your desk, Brian Borski, director of student life, and his crew will deliver your lunch to you at no additional charge. Simply fill out an order form and bring it and your money to the Office of Student Life by noon on Aug. 22.
Since its inception in 1999, the Employee Emergency Fund has provided $14,402 in financial assistance to 54 employees, with a total donation pool “just a tad over $15,000,” according to Terri Edrich, executive director of Human Resources.
A fund created by Brookhaven College employees for Brookhaven College employees, the EEF is available only to full-time employees who need assistance paying their non-reimbursable medical bills.
