A new school year means a new wellness period! Brookhaven College employees and retirees are encouraged to utilize their benefits and take advantage of the Wellness Program and health screenings that are currently available.
The Wellness Program allows current full-time employees and retirees to audit continuing education or credit-for-no-credit classes that embrace wellness-focused activities such as golf, dance, tennis, ceramics, walking, yoga and more. Participants use a total of 1.5 work hours during the week to devote to an activity, provided they match an additional 1.5 hours of personal time back. Supervisor approval is needed for participation.
Classes are offered to employees on a space-available basis. To sign up, visit Mildred Kelley, college nurse, in the Health Center located in the Student Services Center, Room S072, to receive the Wellness Participation form. Employees will then need to contact the instructor of the class they are interested in.
Annual blood tests are also an optional inclusion as part of the Wellness Program. Blood tests are free to full-time employees and retirees. Part-time, spouses and retiree spouses are also allowed to participate for a $60 fee payable by check, money order, flex, debit or credit card. Additional testing panels are also available for a fee.
The college’s test dates are Oct. 23 and 24 from 7-11 a.m. Interested individuals need to register online for a testing time, and are encouraged to fill out a health history form prior to testing. Sign-in tables will be set up outside the Health Center.
