Just as the elections reach their final days, Theatre Brookhaven is taking on a tense topic in its fall performance Oct. 11-21. “¿De Dónde?” which translates roughly to "Where are you from?," is the title of a play by Mary Gallagher that raises questions of immigration and what affect immigration policies truly have on those impacted by them.
In a series of small scenes and monologues, a handful of actors portray dozens of characters that face differing challenges from differing sides of the immigration issue. The play is an answer to the question of where immigrants come from and makes the audience see and understand the difficulty immigrants face as they flee from poverty and persecution to a country that is often indifferent or unable to help them.
Directed by Darise Error, drama professor, the remaining performances are 19-20 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall. The production contains mature language that may not be suitable for all audiences.
Tickets are $6 for students, staff and seniors. General admission is $8. For more information or to reserve tickets, contact the Brookhaven College Box Office at Ext. 4118 or at BHC_Boxoffice@dcccd.edu.
