EPA Representative: Texas Air Quality

The Institute for Political Studies held its fifth event Oct. 1 with speaker Carrie Paige, an environmental scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The topic was “Air Quality in Texas.”

Paige lectured about the Clean Air Act, the national standards it sets for pollution and ozone levels, and the planning processes that go into evaluation. She also focused her attention to the state of Texas and went into detail about emissions data, the areas that are and are not meeting standards, and the recent environmentally friendly developments of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system, just to name a few.

Individuals seeking further information about the EPA and the collected data are encouraged to visit http://www.epa.gov/groundlevelozone.
