Employees Recognized at Emerald and Adjunct Faculty Awards

Employees Recognized at Emerald and Adjunct Faculty Awards

Congrats, Award Winners!

Each January the college takes a few moments to celebrate more than the New Year and coming spring; we celebrate each other. The Brookhaven College awards season started with the Adjunct Faculty Awards Reception, which celebrated the semesters of service and outstanding efforts of the many adjunct professors who teach at the college.

This year's awards for teaching went to David Newman for credit programs and Rick Hildalgo for noncredit programs. Both men have taught for more than 60 semesters, with Newman teaching at Brookhaven College for more than 32 years.

Awardees were recognized for 10, 20, 30 and more semesters of service at the college and the district. Joseph Donia and Guillermina were recognized for 60 semesters of service, Newman and Barbara Morchower were honored for 70 semesters and Cathy Moore received an ovation for her 80 semesters of service.

The Emerald Awards on Jan. 25 is a long-standing tradition. It welcomes new employees and celebrates the longevity of service of employees. More than 20 employees had reached 20 plus years of service with Delryn Fleming, H. Gill-King, Gus Herring and Bob Little honored for 40 years of service in the district.

For the first time, registration was closed during the awards, allowing a few more employees to step away from their workstations to attend. If you missed it though, or any of the other congratulations that have been shared, offer your kudos to the rest of our award winners. You also can wish them luck at the District Annual Awards event, which is this Friday.
