For almost ten years, the annual Grillin’ for Greenbacks lunch has been one of the main fundraising sources for the Employee Emergency Fund. This year, since All-College Day will be a full day of professional development, lunch will be provided, so everyone can enjoy the day.
The Employee Emergency Fund was created in 1999 by Brookhaven College employees for Brookhaven College employees. It provides financial support to full-time employees who need assistance paying non-reimbursable medical bills.
Without Grillin’ for Greenbacks to raise money, though, employees are being asked to still give a few dollars to the fund on All-College Day.
The Human Resources Office works with employees in need to provide emergency assistance with medical bills. To date, the EEF has helped more than 50 different employees in small and large ways and has offered more than $15,000 in assistance to these employees. Right now, the fund needs money.
So, please bring what you might have paid for a “Grillin’” lunch or more if you like, and look for the flower pots at breakfast and lunch to make your donation to grow the EEF.
