Brookhaven Turns 35, Holds All-College-Day
Brookhaven College celebrated its 35th anniversary with All-College Day on Aug. 22.
Throughout the day, employees engaged in professional development sessions, department meetings and other activities to promote conversations about the college's core values: service, learning, diversity, integrity and excellence.
The staff was also treated to a continental breakfast as well as a catered lunch from Sonny Bryan's barbecue. In lieu of this year's annual Grillin' for Greenbacks fundraiser that supports the Employee Emergency Fund, employees instead were encouraged to donate a typical amount they would have paid for the lunch, or more. A total of $112 was raised for the day, but additional cash contributions are always welcome throughout the year.
DCCCD chancellor Dr. Wright Lassiter made a special appearance at Convocation to reflect on his time in the district, his relationship with the college and his vision for the future as he prepares for retirement at the end of the year.
Thanks to everyone for their participation and involvement in helping make All-College Day a success!
