Get Ready to Get Spooky

Get Ready to Get Spooky

The Spooky Trot returns this year on–Surprise!–Oct. 31. You can sign up today to participate in the 5K run or walk. The only registration “cost” is a donation of 10 non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry Phi Theta Kappa operates at the college.

We’ve added an online registration form, so you can register, and share the registration with friends. Last year there were 117 participants, and Vikki Ethington, college police officer and event organizer, has hopes to double that number for this year.

Those who ran and walked, as well as a few who just donated and did not actually take part in the event, supplied more than 700 pounds of food, which translates to 469 meals last year. That’s a number that Vikki would like to double as well.

Runners will receive a Spooky Trot t-shirt this year, courtesy of a sponsorship from the Dallas Medical Center. Whole Foods Market will be supplying the runners with water and donating food items to the pantry. There will be prizes as well for the fastest times for runners and walkers and for creative costumes.

All runners and walkers who register before Oct. 14 can select their t-shirt size, but if you are late, you could still get a shirt if you are one of the first 300 to sign up.
