Lady Bears "Dig Pink" for Breast Cancer

Lady Bears "Dig Pink" for Breast Cancer

The Lady Bears volleyball team hosted their 5th annual "Dig Pink" match Oct. 7 against North Lake College and it was a huge success!

As with our sister colleges, the "Dig Pink" match is held every October in observance of breast cancer awareness month. Brookhaven College partners with the Side-Out Foundation to help raise this awareness as well as funds for breast cancer research.

In preparation for the match, the volleyball team worked hard this month to bring in additional funds by selling "Dig Pink" t-shirts and delicious baked goods during a bake sale.

Thom Chesney, college president, also pledged to donate $1 to the cause for every individual wearing pink to the "Dig Pink" match, which ended up totaling $150!

The girls raked in approximately $1,450 from this year's fundraising. To date, the volleyball program has taken in almost $10,000 with help from students, staff and the surrounding community.

The Lady Bears pulled off a fantastic win against the Blazers that night, and has since managed to remain undefeated in the Metro Athletic Conference.

Way to go, ladies!
