Book Recommendations

"What are you reading this spring?"

Reading: the App for Life! If you've read a good book lately, or are reading one now, tell us what it is and whether or not you would recommend it to others (and why). Just a few sentences will do the trick.

I am reading The Circle by Dave Eggers. It is a bit of suspense coupled with ethical conundrums and the concept of privacy. So far, it has held my attention.

Jennifer Hudson Allen, Social Science

For a book group, I am reading "The Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew - Three Women Search for Understanding," by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver and Priscilla Warner. This book traces the interfaith dialogue of three New York City women in the aftermath of the 9/11. I find their commitment to honest, deep, challenging conversations to be inspiring. The quest to understand - even simple, everyday issues - can be personally transformative.

Hannibal by Thomas Harris
One of my all-time favorite "villains", Dr. Hannibal Lecter is intelligent, passionate and charming. The fact that he is a cannibal is a minor detail. The writing style of Thomas Harris is hard not to fall in love with, and his books leave you with chills on your spine and your lights on at night.
