This course examines the trials and tribulations faced by the hero on his journey toward enlightenment. Through this exploration, students will examine the meaning in their own journey in order to gain a greater insight into their purpose in life. World Lit • Core Curriculum
This course will focus on the worldwide struggle for human rights as heard through the voices of the oppressed. Eye witness reports, guest speakers from human rights organizations, and films will help students gain a deeper understanding of the need for all people to have dignity and respect. The Holocaust and other Genocides: by focusing on the literature of the Holocaust (1939-1945) as well as historical readings and lectures, this course will show how people can be led to believe in the necessity of destroying their fellow human beings and the disasters which result. This course will include a visit to the Dallas Memorial Center for Holocaust Studies and lectures from survivors and liberators of the concentration camps. Studies in Literature
