Computer Literacy is designed for the novice who has little or no experience with computers. In this six-session course you will practice using the mouse, learn about the components of the computer, including the keyboard and perform rudimentary tasks. After completing this course, you will be ready to enroll in Introduction to Computers/Windows XP or Windows Vista. Google for Genealogists, Pt II
Students will learn how to effectively use Gmail for genealogical mailing lists, ten techniques for writing genealogical queries that get results, Google Alerts and search book collections for digital images that will assist them in their genealogical research. Students will learn to view, navigate, extract, print and save information in online documents. Internet Part I
Internet Part I is a six-session course covering basic e-mail functions plus attachments. Students will learn to do searches using Google and other search engines. Other topics include addressing Web pages, using instant messenger and shopping/purchasing online. The class will use Microsoft Internet Explorer and also will discuss SBC/Yahoo, AOL and other browsers. Recommended prerequisite: Windows XP. Photoshop Elements 6, Part I
Photoshop Elements 6, Part I is a six-session course to help you import, organize and enhance your photos. Using the Photoshop Elements 6 software you will develop skills in cropping, rotating, resizing, straightening and red-eye removal. Recommended prerequisites: Windows XP and Beginning Internet. If you are 65 years or older and reside in Dallas County (or own property in Dallas County subject to ad valorem taxation), tuition for credit classes is waived for up to six credit hours per semester.
