This course will examine literature concerning civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance movements in the 20th century. Readings, lectures, films, guest speakers and presentations will include the work of Thoreau, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Thich Nhat Hahn and other voices of peace. Through this course, students will develop the necessary research and writing skills to create awaremenss of social and global issues and to promote change for a better world.
