Art GlassFUSED GLASSYou can create your own fused glass projects in this hands-on course. You can learn the fundamentals, theory and techniques of glass fusing as well as safety, creative ideas and kiln preparation. Projects include making a coaster set, bowl, plate and a drape or vase. Supplies: The approximate cost for supplies is $100-150 and is dependent upon the materials selected for the projects.
STAINED GLASS, FOIL AND LEAD TECHNIQUESWant to start building stained glass panels? Come enroll with us and learn glass cutting and construct your own stained glass panel. You will choose from several patterns for your projects. The first panel will be assembled using the copper foil (Tiffany) method. The second panel will be leaded, using traditional techniques. After you have completed your first basic projects, you will be ready to move on to larger and more complex works. Students enrolling in this course need to visit the facility prior to the class start date to pick out a pattern and to get a supply list. Supplies: Students provide their own tools and glass. The instructor can assist you in obtaining these items. Depending upon materials chosen, students should budget $150 -$200 for materials.
CeramicsCERAMICSBy coil, slab and use of the wheel, you’ll learn to create your own pottery pieces. This multi-level course is designed to meet individual needs. The course covers beginning throwing, altering and combining hand-built forms with thrown forms. In addition to creating pieces, you will have the opportunity to use different types of kilns for finishing the work, including wood, soda, raku and reduction. Glazes and firing are included in the tuition but clay and tool kits are not. Supplies: The supply list will be available at the first class. Your instructor will distribute a handout with more detailed information.
CERAMICS: KILN FIRING PROCESSThis course will primarily focus on the process of firing a cone10 reduction kiln. We will also cover alternative firing techniques such as raku, horse hair, aluminum foil saggar and naked raku. Since firing a high-fire kiln takes all day, or at least six to eight hours, each student will be asked to spend at least one full Sunday watching and participating in the entire kiln-firing process as it takes place.

CraftsCANDLE MAKING: CONTAINER/VOTIVE CANDLESIf you love the sensual pleasure of beautiful aromatic candles, but hate to pay the high prices, there is no reason why you can’t enjoy your own creations at a fraction of the price. It’s easier than you think in these hands-on classes, where you will learn everything you need to continue at home. Each style of candle making requires the use of different wax and wicks as well as a different process. To make the best container or votive candles, you will need to learn the correct wax and wicks, wicking, measurements and conversions, usage of color and fragrance and tips on candle making safety. We highly recommend that all students begin with this course before taking the Pillar Candles course. In this course you will make 13 candles, five container-style and eight votives. Supplies: There is an additional $25 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.

MAKING YOUR OWN GREETING CARDS FOR ALL OCCASIONSLearn to make your own personalized greeting cards for all occasions using blank cards, card stock and a wide assortment of ribbons, buttons, and a vast array of decorations. You will start by making six holiday cards, but learn tips and techniques that may be used to make any type of greeting card. Supplies: There is an additional $10 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
Creative WritingCREATIVE WRITINGFor all aspiring writers or those students who just want to explore the possibility of putting their thoughts into words, this hands-on workshop will explore ways to ignite your creativity. We will examine different genres of writing and the styles common to each, narrative voice, ways to enrich language, metaphors and similes, and introduce you to the workshop method used in prestigious creative writing programs across the nation. Come prepared to write! There is nothing like a writers group to inspire your creativity.
CREATIVE WRITING TOOIf you've taken our Creative Writing course or an Introduction to Creative Writing on any campus, you are welcome to take the next step to learn and exercise deeper development of characters, plot, dialogue, narration, structure, voice, setting and your favorite genre. You also will learn the importance of editing and rewrites, valuable exercises to cure writers block, and share your work with your writing colleagues using the workshop method.

JEWELRY MAKING, BEGINNINGA beautiful piece of jewelry can inspire the desire to create. Take this course and practice designing jewelry to wear, give as gifts or to sell. In this course, students will discover how to design, texture, saw, file, cold-connect, solder and polish. Students will be able to create pins, pendants, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. This course is for every skill level. Supplies: At the first class meeting, students will need to bring a 100mm depth saw frame and two dozen 3/0 saw blades. JEWELRY MAKING, INTERMEDIATEPrerequisites: Jewelry Making: Beginning, or permission of the instructor. A continuation of our popular beginning jewelry making course, in this course the instructor will work with students individually on more complex projects, with an emphasis on design. Techniques include etching on metal, firing metals, using epoxy mixed with pigments and chain making.
INTRODUCTION TO SILVER METAL CLAY JEWELRY WORKSHOPPrerequisites: No experience is necessary to enroll in this course. Get an introduction to the fun and excitement of making your own jewelry in this two-day workshop. You don’t need any metalworking experience. Silver metal clay consists of microscopic particles of fine silver, mixed with an organic binder, to give it the consistency of clay. This remarkable clay can be rolled, textured, molded, carved and shaped to create original silver jewelry. You will have the opportunity to create as many as four finished pieces of jewelry while learning the basic metal clay skills using lump, syringe and paste forms of the clay. Tools will be furnished by the instructor for in-class use. Supplies: There is an additional $45 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
SILVER METAL CLAY: ENAMELINGPrerequisites: Introduction to Silver Metal Clay, other silver metal clay workshops or permission of the instructor. Take silver metal clay to another level. In this course, you will learn the proper way to fire silver clay to be able to enamel your piece successfully. Once the piece you create is ready to be enameled, you will learn how to pack and shake the pigment to achieve the desired colors and designs. You are limited only by your imagination. The instructor will furnish tools. Supplies: There is an additional $40 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
SILVER METAL CLAY: MOLD MAKINGPrerequisites: Introduction to Silver Metal Clay, other silver metal clay workshops or permission of the instructor. Learn how to make beautiful earrings or pendants. After learning how to make detailed molds you will begin to make earrings, pendants or other piece of your own design. Attention to finishing and polishing techniques will be taught including Liver-of-sulfur. The instructor will furnish tools. Supplies: There is an additional $40 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
SILVER METAL CLAY: GOLD FOILING, KEUM-BOOPrerequisites: Introduction to Silver Metal Clay, other silver metal clay workshops or permission of the instructor. From the first day you’ll begin creating your own piece of jewelry with silver metal clay, before applying the gold foil. The instructor will demonstrate and teach students how to adhere gold foil with a torch and craft the piece to your own choosing. We furnish tools for in-class use, but if you choose to bring your own please have them marked for easy identification. Supplies: There is an additional $40 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
SILVER METAL CLAY: RING MAKINGPrerequisites: Introduction to Silver Metal Clay, other silver metal clay workshops or permission of the instructor. Taking skills in silver metal clay to the next level, this workshop will teach you different methods for making rings. Using rolled, coiled and texturized methods, you will have the opportunity to create rings to allow for different designs and learn how to size your rings to allow for shrinkage of the silver clay. Tools will be furnished for in-class use, but please mark any tools you choose to bring for easy identification. Supplies: There is an additional $40 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
SILVER METAL CLAY: SOLDERINGPrerequisites: Introduction to Silver Metal Clay, other silver metal clay workshops or permission of the instructor. Add to your abilities to make in silver metal clay jewelry by learning soldering skills. You will create a piece and then solder on bails, earring posts or jump rings. Depending on your preference, you will make a pendant or earrings. Students also are encouraged to bring pieces made in previous classes to solder on jump rings and other findings for additional soldering practice. Supplies: There is an additional $20 cost for materials, which will be collected in class.
