Learn to read the roadside landforms to understand the story of erosion and weathering occurring all around us on the way down to discover the fascinating geologic history of Dinosaur State Park and its inhabitants. Discover how the park’s flora and fauna of today depend on the geology of the past. Fossil collecting will be available.

Our CMaP course is designed for teachers, geospatial educators and informal educators in grades 5-12. Training will include using a hand-held GPS unit to do mapping, downloading your points into your computer, loading and accessing the ArcView GIS software, downloading existing map data from the web and adding your data to that map.

Elementary and middle school teachers will be exposed to a full scope of earth sciences. Teachers receive a comprehensive manual and materials designed to enable them fully or partially to incorporate the topics into the curriculum. Background information; vocabulary; project information; projects; advanced thinking topics; and cross-curricular ideas with language arts, math, social and other sciences allow teachers to teach with confidence guided in each section. The teaching projects provided are hands-on, making earth science a fun and memorable learning experience. An interactive overview and review games such as "Geo-Bingo" and "Geopardy" lead to understanding and retention for all.
