Food Protection Management CertificationFOOD PROTECTION MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION • Eligible for Financial AidThis is a 15-hour training and certification course for people in charge of establishments which prepare and serve food to the public. The accredited program consists of 15 hours of classroom training with a one-hour test. The course includes instruction in proper food storage, sanitary food service preparation, pest control, employee sanitation training, housekeeping management, accident prevention and sanitation regulations and standards. This course complies with the regulations of Dallas, Carrollton, Farmers Branch and many other cities requiring certification. It is structured around the Texas Department of State Health Services Food and Drug Administration rules on food service sanitation. Supplies: Please bring a #2 pencil with an eraser.
Food Protection Management RecertificationFOOD PROTECTION MANAGEMENT RECERTIFICATION • Eligible for Financial AidThis course is a seven-hour recertification program for people employed in the food industry who have previously completed an accredited 15-hour certification program. The course includes instruction in categories of food contamination, factors that contribute to food borne illness, food borne illness prevention and introduction of hazard analysis critical control points. This course meets the training requirements mandated by the cities of Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Garland, Lewisville and Mesquite. Students from other cities should contact their local health departments to verify training requirements for recertification. Supplies: Please bring a #2 pencil with an eraser.
FOOD PROTECTION RECERTIFICATION TEST (ONLY)Brookhaven College offers the option of "test only" recertification. Licensed individuals have a 30-day grace period to retest without taking the full course. If you pass the test, your license is renewed for an additional five years. You must register for the "test only" option in advance. The test is given between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tests will not be given after 3 p.m. On the day of the test, please come to the Workforce and Continuing Education Office in the Student Services Center, Building S, at Brookhaven College’s main campus, 3939 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch.
