INTRODUCTION TO BLUES GUITARPrerequisites: Completion of a beginning guitar course, equivalent experience or permission of the instructor. This course is open to all students with knowledge of basic bar chords and the pentatonic scale. Topics include the standard twelve and eight bar blues forms, chord voicings, scales and rhythmic elements. Regional variations and the oral tradition are explored using historical and contemporary examples, with a focus on playing by ear. This course may be repeated. Text varies by instructor.
PIANO CLASSAre you interested in learning the piano, but not ready to commit to private lessons? This adult group piano course provides an innovative atmosphere that encourages group interaction and positive thinking. You will study traditional piano skills and learn to play in a group setting. Together in a group setting, our students can improve their skills in reading standard music symbols and of the reading-playing process. The Arts Academy offers premium individual lessons in piano, guitar, violin, clarinet, singing and more! Students are gently guided by a careful teacher who tailors each lesson to meet the individual needs and personal goals of each student, regardless of age, skill or experience level. All individual lessons are arranged by appointment with the Arts Academy director. SUZUKI STRINGS PROGRAMChildren, ages three to 18, can find their musical voice through Suzuki-inspired courses in violin and viola. Our goal is providing rich and enjoyable music experiences that will contribute to the development of self-confident, happy children. Students receive weekly private lessons as well as twice-a-month group classes. Under the Suzuki method, daily listening to music is as vital as practicing performance techniques. The Suzuki program requires active participation of a parent, including attendance at lessons and daily practice with the child. A positive musical experience shared between parent and child is central to the Suzuki philosophy. All individual lessons are arranged by appointment with the Arts Academy director.
