Dr. Harris has carried out extensive studies on lacustrine source rocks in West Africa and edited the recently published SEPM Special Publication No. 82 on source rocks, titled “Deposition of Organic-Carbon-Rich Sediments: Models, Mechanisms and Consequences.”
The course covers how oil and gas are generated and how to measure organic carbon content, TOC. It also covers types and timing of hydrocarbons, models for source rock deposition, source rock quality and organic matter type as well as methods for predicting volumes and more sophisticated analyses. Geologists, geophysicists, engineers, managers or anyone interested in the generation of hydrocarbons, should attend.
